The New York senator said that she admires Angie’s decision to travel to Lviv this weekend. She was chit-chatting and visiting children in nearby hospitals. It is close to the Polish border and has so far avoided Russian forces.
Actress and filmmaker Angelina Jolie visits the central railway station in Lviv to welcome the internally displaced Ukrainians arriving on an evacuation train from Pokrovsk, a city in Donetsk Oblast, on April 30. Jolie is an UNHCR special envoy.

Gillibrand says she knows AJ does humanitarian work with the UN — so she thinks it’s great that she’s putting that hat on in the most crucial of times. She tells us that she will do whatever she feels is necessary, despite the danger.
Now Angelina’s team, and representatives for the UN, have noted that she was not there to represent the intergovernmental organization this time around… but was only there in her capacity to witness what was happening.
Angelina states, “No child should have to flee his or her home, witness the murder of their loved one, or suffer shelling and destruction of their homes.” This is what many children around the world and in Ukraine face every day. “
