M&A IT Integration: Tenant Carve-Out for an E&P Acquisition

// THE CHALLENGE

What the client was facing.

A mid-market E&P company acquired a smaller operator. The target's IT, email, files, Teams, and identity, was embedded inside the seller's Microsoft 365 tenant. The seller needed the target's data out by a hard deadline. The acquiring company's internal IT team was at capacity running their own environment and couldn't take on a full tenant migration.

// OUR APPROACH

What Titanovo did.

  • Assessed the target's M365 footprint: mailboxes, SharePoint sites, Teams channels, and OneDrive data.
  • Built a clean Microsoft 365 tenant for the acquired entity.
  • Migrated all mailboxes, files, and Teams data using BitTitan with zero data loss.
  • Consolidated identity in Entra ID with unified Conditional Access and MFA.
  • Deployed NinjaOne, SentinelOne, and Veeam to all acquired endpoints.
  • Established coexistence policies during the transition so both employee bases could collaborate, then documented the environment and transitioned to managed services.

// THE RESULTS

The outcomes.

Completed the full carve-out and migration in 60 days, two weeks ahead of the seller's deadline.
Zero data loss and zero extended downtime.
All acquired endpoints secured with EDR and backup within the first week.
The integration became the start of an ongoing MSP relationship.
The carve-out deadline was non-negotiable and our team had no bandwidth. Titan ran the entire integration and delivered ahead of schedule with zero data loss. They made a stressful part of the deal a non-issue.
